The glittering profit opportunities offered by Florida's booming Medicaid health maintenance organization industry apparently are blinding some legislators and bureaucrats alike to their ethical obligations under state law.
The Sun-Sentinel reported last week that six former employees of the Agency for Health Care Administration, which oversees Medicaid HMOs, have gone to work for the companies they used to regulate in apparent violation of state ethics statutes.

Six former state health agency employees may have violated Florida ethics laws by going to work for Medicaid HMOs that they formerly helped to regulate, according to the agency's top lawyer.
Three of the six worked at the Agency for Health Care Administration's Tallahassee headquarters and were responsible for reviewing applications or administering multimillion-dollar contracts with Medicaid HMOs.

I wonder if the investigators ever got to sweep all of the dead wood in there, or if only the surface was scratched. When you get letters like this one regarding a multi-million dollar company and then a poor working stiff like me gets the shaft like this it really makes one wonder.
