The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit became part of the Attorney General's Office in July 1994 and brought with it the responsibility for investigating Medicaid fraud and patient abuse.
Medicaid fraud can take many forms. The most common involves doctors, clinics and other health care providers billing for services never performed, over billing for services provided or billing for tests, services and products which are medically unnecessary. The unit is also responsible for investigating the abuse or exploitation of patients in any facility that accepts Medicaid funds. This includes physical abuse, neglect or financial exploitation.
Under Florida's False Claims Act, persons who blow the whistle on Medicaid fraud can share in any monies recovered by the state. To report fraud or abuse, individuals can use the statewide hotline number or contact the fraud control unit nearest them.
The hearing impaired can now report Medicaid Provider Fraud Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 p.m., by contacting the Attorney General's Office, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit at 850/414-3935 (voice/TTY) or through the Florida Relay at 800/955-8771 (TTY).

WEBMASTERS COMMENTS. This page originated from the State Attorneys office ( graphic is mine ) and if you follow the links there you will see that selective information is available and one page specifically says that the development of the Web site was done in order to keep in touch with the public trough this most wonderful electronic means. However as you browse trough the whole Web site there is not a single E-Mail address to be found. Not even a Webmasters e-mail address for contact with problems regarding the site ( smart guy hahh>>!! ) I should point out for his credit that all of the links do work and that there are telephone numbers and fax numbers along with addresses but not electronic contact..!! Why.! When most of our public servants do have E-mail and if not at the very least all the departments do so lets get modern up there folks . Don't just talk about it. [footer.html]
